final post

star date 25 May 2016  this enterprise is over.

6.5 hour drive thru north Maine to Montreal…came to Quebec border, middle of nowhere…was only car at the singular toll booth.  It’s 3 pm and I’m hungry.  asked guard for a restaurant close.  drive into small town with no stoplights looking for hotel..walk in to bar =empty.  ouch!  walk around to front counter and ask lady about lunch…says sorry restaurant closed at 2 pm…sad face!!   BUT, she says “that’s ok sweetie, I can make you some soup and sandwich.”   she made me tomato pasta soup and a chicken breast club sandwich.  I was in heaven…as good as any 5 star restaurant.  learned a few French words as well.

Checked into Laberge Bonaparte in old Montreal…cobblestone street and all.  enjoyed a great pork tenderloin dinner at the Bonaparte restaurant and beef wellington at Gibby’s which is located in a converted stable.  walked about the city visiting Notre Dame cathedral and other sites.

next stop Ottawa, Canada’s capital.  beautiful downtown with amazing Parliament bldg and other old and classic architecture.  no pictures because weekend traffic restricted available parking  (and I’m lazy).

Last stop: Toronto…what a great city.  great food ,toured Chinatown, Hockey hall of fame, Yonge st, Bloor st, subway, and Eaton Centre Mall where I took my final pictures of LUSH dedicated to my daughter, Beth.

Final thoughts:

  1. Awesome trip Neil. Kinda surprised Delafield, Wisconsin wasn’t on your “places you’d visit again.” Like Banff is all that! Ha. Talk to you next week.
