had a great but tiring time with Beth in Orlando ( she walked me long and hard). here are a few pics I took:
I was singing out loud with the Blues Bros.
headed north to St Augustine beach. tiny rental on the beach with a decent view. visited world golf hall of fame, played the two courses there…King and Bear and Slammer and Squire. bought a print of Bill Murray as Spackler from Caddyshack getting a Masters green jacket put on him by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus with other famous people looking on from the gallery. this is going to a place of prominence in my retirement home. here are couple of pics from balcony:
on to Tybee Island, Georgia, 15 mils east of Savannah. beautiful country, Savannah is awesome with its mansions, many small city parks and Spanish moss hanging from all the trees. took an open air trolley tour thru historic district…a must if you go. highlight of week was dinner on the Savannah riverwalk with Scott and Maria Dzieciolowski who had recently relo’d to south carolina.
played golf on hilton head…heron point and palmetto dunes.
next stop: Isle of Palms,just outside Charleston. My new favorite place on the Atlantic coast. Charleston is another wow city with amazing architecture, formal mansions and great upper-scale restaurants. Cruised King St with the top down and was very impressed with the local attractions!! played two Wild Dunes resort courses…the Harbor and Links.
next stop: north Myrtle Beach…very busy with tourists and very commercial on hwy 17, slow moving. rental on beach with ok view.
played the Love course at Barefoot Resort and Tidewater. local golf pro told me that, in last ten years, # of golf courses along south carolina coast have shrunk from 214 to 80. hmnn!!
on to nags head, nc to spend Easter with Beth.
