Beth here! I’m so excited to have the chance to take over the blog once again. Dad and I had a great time in Nags Head. We were able to have many adventurous adventures and eat a lot of incredible food. The best part was getting the boys to see Dad. They haven’t had a playdate since Dad left on his road trip last spring, it was well past time for them to enjoy.
We found out in December, after a very costly 48 hours of bloodwork, X-rays and ultrasounds, that Eddie Bear is sick and won’t be able to get better. Inoperable liver cancer. My hope was that the vet was wrong and a few weeks to a few months would turn into more than a few months and we’d get him to see Dad and play in the ocean. And Eddie stayed strong and did it!
Thanks to the magic of Google we found an Outer Banks wild horse tour. Corolla Outbank Adventures did a great job. And it was inexpensive, too! http://corollaoutback.com
We spent a day just exploring the shops and sights down the main drag. We visited the Nags Head Hammock Store, truly the holy grail for any retiree. Needless to say, Dad began to develop a game plan and took a catalog for future reference. I told him that purple was totally the color of champions. We shall see.

Our friends at the Nine West Outlet told us the best place to get a pizza was Slice. It was fabulous. And Dad was a saint for being patient while I discovered SO many shooooooes!!!

Jennette’s Pier was beautiful. And so many people renting poles and fishing for the day. And everyone was so friendly. There is something to be said about southern hospitality. http://www.ncaquariums.com/jennettes-pier
When Guy Fieri says someone’s food is “off the hook” it is worth a stop. We went to Tortuga’s Lie for lunch. Had the Jamaican ‘Jerk’ Chicken: Choice of breast or leg and thigh, stuffed with our jerk seasoning. Served with a warm pineapple chutney and the Coco Loco Chicken: chicken breast rolled in coconut & cracked pepper, fried and served with a curry lime dipping sauce. It was so yummy. And the kindest server. Highly recommend a stop!
Our last meal before I headed on to Raleigh was at the Blue Moon Beach Grill. It looks like a total strip mall joint from the outside, but we decided to give it a shot since it is the top rated place in Nags Head. Man oh man, did it ever pay off! According to Dad, the Mahi and Chips was “to DIE FOR!”
It was a great time. And I’m so thankful that Dad was willing to give up a few days of his adventure to hang with us. And Eddie just celebrated his 12th birthday. So life is good and blessings abound!
